TypeVelo requires no account and no sign-up. Typing test results, lesson progress, and personal bests are stored only in your browser's localStorage on your own device — they are never transmitted to or stored on our servers.

Analytics

To see which tests, drills and guides are used, TypeVelo runs Google Analytics 4 and Vercel Web Analytics. Google Analytics sets cookies so it can tell one visit from another; Vercel Web Analytics counts page views without cookies. Neither records the keys you press or the text you type.

Advertising

Display ads on TypeVelo come from Google AdSense and help keep the tests and drills free. Google and its advertising partners use cookies to serve and measure those ads, which may be personalised from your activity on this site and on other websites, depending on your ad settings. If you are in the EEA or the UK, Google asks for your consent before personalised-advertising cookies are set, and you can change that answer at any time.

Ads have no say over what a page teaches. No drill, layout guide or WPM benchmark is sponsored, and advertisers never preview a page before it is published. Some keyboard and setup guides also link to products on Amazon as an affiliate; the affiliate disclosure lists where and why.

You can see why an ad was shown, or turn personalised ads off, in Google My Ad Center, and opt out of interest-based advertising from participating companies at aboutads.info. Google's explanation of its advertising cookies is on its ads policy page.

Newsletter, contact form and payments

If you subscribe to the newsletter, your email address is stored with Brevo, our email provider, and used only to send the newsletter and its welcome email; every message has an unsubscribe link. Contact-form messages reach our inbox through Brevo too, and are used only to reply.

Donations and the Personalized Typing Improvement Plan are paid through Stripe, which handles your card details; TypeVelo never sees them. When you order the plan, the WPM, accuracy, weak keys and goal you enter at checkout travel with the order so the plan can be written for you. That is the only typing data that ever leaves your browser, and only because you chose to send it.
